You couldn't imagine our delight when we finally took possession of the keys to our dream Petanque venue in October 2020 after almost 15 months of negotiation with Leicester City Council.
We have taken possession of a former bowls green and clubhouse set in an ideal picturesque location in the middle of Western Park, Leicester. The work now starts to transform it into a Petanque facility for the local community and wider audience.
When complete, the venue will have a minimum of 24 championship size terrains with its own private clubhouse and facilities including a bar, kitchen and toilets all secured within a 7ft palisaded perimeter fence.
It is unique in that it is ran by petanque players, for Petanque players and is not beholden to any other commercial enterprises which may hinder it's development.
Our aim is for the pistes to be built by the end of March 2021 although the current Covid-19 restrictions aren't helping our cause. The hard work starts now - securing funding, raising awareness and encouraging Sponsorship to enable the club to be an active part of the community.
